Aquarius New Moon and Uranus -Genius or Rebel?
Aquarius is governed by Uranus and asks us to think outside the box, to explore new ideas and insights.
Uranus represents the Higher Mind, where ideas can come out of the blue. It can tune us in to our brilliance, our genius, to inventive solutions that may be ahead of their time. Aquarians seek outcomes that benefit mankind. They are the humanitarians of the zodiac, the eccentrics and revolutionaries.
At this Aquarius New Moon Uranus (the planet that rules Aquarius) in the sign of Taurus is making a tense aspect- a square- to the New Moon. Both Taurus and Aquarius are fixed signs and the elements of earth and air are at odds with each other.
The negative is being bogged down by over-thinking and analysis paralysis.
A square is a challenging aspect so working with it in a positive way demands we take action.
Uranus wants change, which can be a blast of fresh air or something that comes as bolt from the blue. Lightning is associated with Uranus. A storm clears the air.
It’s time to sweep out the old and regain personal power. The problem is that Saturn in Capricorn is attached to the past and alongside Pluto can be intransigent. It won’t budge. Fear of change has its roots in past experiences. The ego fears the future as it fears the unknown.
Let your Higher Mind remind you of times when you made a leap of faith and you succeeded!
Have you been feeling edgy and craving something new and exciting?
Uranus wants to shake us all up. This New Moon in Aquarius is an ideal time to release any emotional attachment that is restricting your freedom in some way. Aquarius is a group energy, so the lunar month ahead is perfect for networking and connecting with others.

Lost Constellation and The Eagle
As the Capricorn Full Moon connected us to the Wolf, the Teacher, I researched the hidden meaning for this New Moon in Aquarius.
In the book The Lost Zodiac 22 Ancient Star Signs by Catherine Tennant, the author introduces us to the constellations that lie beyond the ecliptic- the path of the Sun and our zodiac. These constellations have legends associated with them, when humankind was in direct relationship with the starry skies.
If you are born between January 14th and 28th, then you are connected to the group of stars called Aquila The Eagle.
Aquila is a constellation on the celestial equator. Its name is Latin for ‘eagle’ and it represents the bird that carried Zeus/Jupiter’s thunderbolts in Greek-Roman mythology.
Aquila is also associated with the eagle that kidnapped Ganymede, a son of one of the kings of Troy (associated with Aquarius), to Mount Olympus to serve as cup-bearer to the gods.
The Eagle in the Medicine cards connects us to Spirit.
“Eagle medicine is the power of the Great Spirit, the connection to the Divine. It is the ability to live in the realm of spirit, and yet remain connected and balanced within the realm of Earth.
Eagle soars, and is quick to observe expansiveness within the overall pattern of life. From the heights of the clouds, Eagle is close to the heavens where the Great Spirit dwells. Eagle represents a state of grace achieved through hard work, understanding and a completion of tests of initiation which results in the taking of one’s personal power.
It is only through the trial of experiencing the lows in life as well as the highs, and through the trial of trusting one’s connection to the Great Spirit, that the right to use the essence of eagle medicine is earned.” from Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams and David Carson.
This is one of my favorite tarot card decks. I bought it in Vancouver way back in June 1997 and an amazing medicine woman called Edna Brillon gave me a eagle feather. The eagle is also connected to the sign of Scorpio as the higher vibration of the scorpion. The feathers of the eagle are considered to be the most sacred of healing tools.
Take heart that the light is there at the end of the tunnel.
Aquarius New Moon and Dreamtime
Aquarius is a fixed mental sign, so can be just as stubborn as Taurus!
I have trained with Psychology of Vision and in this model one extraordinary gift in leadership is called Dreamtime. It seems highly relevant at this time as it relates to Australia and their native aborigines.
Researching ‘dreamtime’ I came across this reference in Wikipedia:-
“Creation is believed to be the work of culture heroes who travelled across a formless land, creating sacred sites and significant places of interest in their travels.
In this way, “songlines” were established, some of which could travel right across Australia, through as many as six to ten different language groupings.
The dreaming and travelling trails of the Spirit Beings are the songlines. The signs of the Spirit Beings may be of spiritual essence, physical remains such as petrosomatoglyphs of body impressions or footprints, among natural and elemental simulacra.
“Dreaming” existed before the life of the individual begins, and continues to exist when the life of the individual ends.
The Spirit Child and The Land of the Mother
Both before and after life, it is believed that this spirit-child exists in the Dreaming and is only initiated into life by being born through a mother.
The spirit of the child is culturally understood to enter the developing fetus during the fifth month of pregnancy.
When the mother felt the child move in the womb for the first time, it was thought that this was the work of the spirit of the land in which the mother then stood.
Upon birth, the child is considered to be a special custodian of that part of their country and is taught the stories and songlines of that place.”
I believe that we all were born because we heard the call to be here on this planet at this time. That we chose to be born in a certain place at the right time to fulfill our purpose.
Make your Wish List at the Magic of the New Moon
I have often suggested that you make a wish list 8 hours after the New Moon, and up to 48 hours later. This month you may like to consider what groups of people are your tribe? What does dreamtime mean for you? What amazing spiritual journey beckons you?
Some wishes may be:-
- “I want a brilliant inventive solution to occur to me regarding the situation of ……”
- “I want all fears of being unique lifted from me.”
- “I want to easily find myself filled with the courage to revolutionise my life.”
- “I want to feel a sense of comfortable equality with others.”

Pluto in Capricorn is now direct. Pluto is an outer planet and affects world events. However it becomes more personal if it connects with one of inner planets in your chart.
