This New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse in Capricorn asks us to commit
All eclipse are a reboot, a time to take stock. This shift takes about 3 days. It’s usually a time for going within.
However Uranus, the planet that represents change is now direct. Revolution is on its way! Its completing its journey in Aries. Aries is ruled by Mars which is now in its own sign. Expect some fireworks!
As it’s a time of change, a New Year, what does this mean for you?
Capricorn is an earth sign, so connects us to the material world and to our four senses of smell, taste, sound and vision.
The ruling planet of Capricorn is Saturn. It is now travelling through Capricorn where it is strong and can manifest its best intentions. It entered Capricorn last year on 21st December and stays for approx. two and a half years.
Saturn asks us to be responsible, to commit to what we value and see it through to the end.
One important factor is not to get weighed down.
With Mercury joining Saturn asking the right questions is vitally important. Being serious is the theme for the month.
The balance lies with Jupiter in Sagittarius – the quest is for truth.

Neptune is the God of the Sea, and with Jupiter moving into a tense relationship with Neptune in Pisces on January 13th you could get caught up in feeling overwhelmed. I encourage you to watch this magical series. It truly is uplifting.

The stars are saying-Commit to what you believe in
- Mercury is now in Capricorn. As the Messenger planet Mercury moves quickly activating in turn: Mars (tense square) on 8th, Saturn on 13th (serious decision time) and Pluto on 18th (power struggles and Shadow figures emerge). The politics of January are looking really tough for the first 3 weeks for the US and the UK. On a personal level, listen to the messages that are coming to you.
- Venus moves into Sagittarius on January 7th 2019 until February 22nd. It joins Jupiter on January 22nd which is a joining of the two most benefic planets. A day for joyful celebration!
- Mars is now in Aries until February 14th 2019. It contacts Venus in a positive aspect on January 18th. Mars takes 2 years to move through all the signs, so this is a positive boost for all fire signs, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
- The Nodal axis shifted on November 16th into the Cancer/Capricorn axis. For the next 18 months eclipse will occur in these signs. This axis brings up issues with our family as Cancer is ruled by the Moon ( mother) and Capricorn is ruled by Saturn (father). Control issues will surface, bringing up fights.
- Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on January 21st. This is major as its also a SuperMoon so appears much larger than usual. It will be in Leo/Aquarius.
- Jupiter moved into Sagittarius on November 8th 2018 where it stays until December 2nd 2019. This is hugely beneficial for all the fire signs- Sagittarius, Aries and Leos.

The astrology of 2019 is an important year as the nodal axis changed sign in 2018 into Cancer North Node and Capricorn South Node. We need to release the control issues of Capricorn and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable as indicated by the North Node in Cancer. Control results in power struggles. Steven Forrest writes:-

The nodal axis connects us to the eclipses which are a wild card in astrology. As the south node in Aquarius was connected with Mars retrograde in 2018 it has been difficult to move ahead in leadership, business and affected many relationships.
Venus -planet of love and money enters Sagittarius on 7th January and will be moving forward all year.
Mars -the planet of courage and the Warrior energises 8 signs, from Aries to Scorpio. This is a relief as Mars went retrograde in 2018 in Aquarius and was tied up with eclipses.
Jupiter -the planet of Great Good Fortune remains in its home sign of Sagittarius until 2nd December. This is a feel good factor, especially for all 3 fire signs, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
Saturn continues through mid to late degrees of Capricorn. In 2020 it will join Pluto, a major event for the world.
Uranus changes sign into Taurus for the next 7 years on 6th March. Neptune remains in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn. All three go retrograde every year and can indicate life changing events if they activate a natal planet in your chart.
