The New Moon in Libra is a Full Solar Eclipse
The solar eclipse is on Wednesday October 2nd at 19.49 BST in London UK at 10 degrees Libra
Although this New Moon Solar Eclipse may not be visible where you live, watch your dreams for the next few days. This new moon Solar Eclipse has the Sun and Moon really close to Mercury the Messenger.
A solar eclipse signifies a potent time for setting intentions, transformation, and embracing new cycles. Libra, ruled by Venus, emphasizes justice, beauty, diplomacy, and partnership. However Venus is in Scorpio.
The Nodal Axis and Mars and Venus
The nodes of the Moon are travelling in Aries and Libra- the two signs that represent relationships from July 18th 2023, through January 11th 2025. We need to pay special attention to the position and sign of Mars and Venus during this period especially at a Solar Eclipse. The North Node indicates our destiny, the South node the past, and what we need to release.
Karmic Connections-Venus rules the South Node
Venus is now in Scorpio and it rules the South Node where this eclipse is taking place. The South Node is associated with past lives and karma. When Venus, the planet of love and relationships is in Scorpio, it often brings up relationships from the past that went wrong. Issues of betrayal may surface as Scorpio is ruled by Pluto.
This could mean reconnecting with someone from your past or dealing with unresolved issues in a current relationship.
Grand Water Trine
At this Solar Eclipse a Grand Water Trine is forming between Mars in Cancer, Venus in Scorpio and Saturn in Pisces.
This is a harmonious aspect that occurs when three planets are positioned approximately 120 degrees apart in each of the three water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. This forms an equilateral triangle in a birth chart, creating a flow of energy between the planets involved. Saturn keeps it grounded. However water signs are especially sensitive and can be over emotional. Keep the tissues handy. Or tune into a Tv show or movie that makes you laugh!
Uranus the Disrupter is in a positive contact with the outer planets Neptune and Pluto and the Sun
Because Uranus is unpredictable astrologers agree to expect the unexpected during this time. This could range from sudden insights to actual disruptions in daily life. The positive is creative breakthroughs. Uranus can inspire creative self-expression and can bring innovative ideas or unconventional approaches. However its in a difficult relationship with this eclipse.
However Uranus is in a difficult relationship with the Sun, Moon and Mercury
However at this solar eclipse it forms an difficult aspect called a sesiquiquadrate to the Sun, Moon and Mercury. Just try saying it and you’ll get the energy! The good news is that the Sun moves away from this after October 6th.
- Like a square, the sesiquiquadrate often indicates tension or friction between the energies of the two planets involved. It suggests that there are obstacles or difficulties that need to be overcome, but unlike major aspects, the energy is subtler or more internalized.
- Effects: It can represent situations where progress is hindered by frustrations or conflicts, often requiring adjustment or re-evaluation. The aspect tends to operate more under the surface, leading to a sense of irritation or discomfort.
- The advise? Keep calm and be patient. This too will pass.
Mercury The Messenger in Libra
Also highlighted at this Solar Eclipse is Mercury in Libra. It is now an Evening Star, a psychopomp- the guide in the Underworld.

Mars is now in Cancer in a water sign ruled by the Moon. Communications are linked to emotions.
Pluto is now retrograde. Pluto is an outer planet and affects world events. It is now in Capricorn. However Pluto becomes more personal if it connects with one of inner planets in your chart. These are the Sun, Moon, Mercury Venus and Mars. It is activated at mid-life when it makes a square to itself around the age of 38. It moved into Aquarius from January 21st until September 2nd 2024 when it retrograded back in Capricorn. However next year it will be a major transit.
